The Election is looming. pt. 2

So I took the quiz, you know, to help me decide.

It didn't really help, as much as it did surprise me!

  2. Well, I am not a Canadian--though I sometimes wish I was, especially in recent years--but I can never resist a quiz it seems.... So, if I was a voting citizen of the great north, this is what you would get:

    Your Results:

    1. Jack Layton Leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada (100%)

    2. Paul Martin Leader of Liberal Party of Canada, Prime Minister of Canada (86%)

    3. Gilles Duceppe Leader of the Bloc Quebecois (73%)

    4. Stephen Harper Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada (60%)

  3. I'm 100% Conservative, according to that test. But really, there is NO way that test is objective in its interpretations of which party would fall where on any particular scale.

While I was planning to vote Conservative anyway, it should be obvious that the quiz should be taken with a grain of salt. Of course, it should hopefully prompt people to look further into the policies of each party (even the Bloc...shudder) to try and further understand where they stand on issues.

Having said all of that, I consider myself "politically retarded", so you may want to disregard all of this nonsense.

Let's just say these results didn't affect my vote because I already voted on Friday at an early voting station. It's like buying your Christmas presents in July so that when the big day arrives you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the results.

  5. It rates me as a 100% Conservative, which about nails it.

The website claims that the group "Politics Watch" is non-partisan, but it seems to me that a couple of conservative positions are misrepresented. For example the Conservative early childhood plan would provide child care spaces in addition to giving parents of preschoolers $1200/year, but the quiz only mentioned the payment to parents.

Thanks for mentioning this quiz Randall. I know that a lot of folks are afraid to bring up the topic of politics, but it is one area where we should be able to debate our differences and still remain friends.

  6. Ah, Randall.... Welcome to the Dark Side. Those of us who bleed orange welcome you into this dimension.... (insert sinister laugh here)

  9. Hi Rand..

I guess you would know where I would be at in the polling.

However I was quite surprised that I had such a high mark for J. Layton, which normally for me would be dead last. Now I had the P.M. and bloc. at 27%. close to what I expected

    Dad.

  10. I can think of a lot worser fates than being an NDP'er. (and just be glad you can vote next week, it's killing me having to sit back and watch!)

  11. It turned out pretty much as I thought - conservatives a dead last.
