I've been waiting all summer for this!

And I thought that since it's September, my chance was gone.

Then, laying in bed awake, waiting for who knows what, I heard a distant rumble I blamed on the neighbours. Then it came again and again, and I was up and at the window in a flash.

And what to my wondering eyes would appear, but a light show, planned just for me.

Sweet. For a first time. I'll take it.

Enjoy. There's more.

  2. Beautiful! How did you time that?

Dang it! You know, I said to Dixie at about 12:30, or whenever the height of the storm was, "I wonder if I should take the camera and go for a car ride." And she said, "No, you wouldn't get any good pictures," by which she meant that it would be extremely difficult to time.

After I read your post I remembered a little book I have called "101 Things Every Dad Should Know", and it includes a chapter on taking photographs of lighting.

Sometimes I shouldn't listen to my wife.

    Anyway, great shots, Randall!

  3. Yep, that looks just like the streak that shook our house....see that little fork out to the right.....if this is looking out the back of your place, that's the one I heard sizzle. Wasn't it just grand!!! Sadly to say, after an evening of "Aquasize" I was even too tired to get out of bed to watch my most favorite "sport" :-(

  4. Well, out in the country we got a little rumble of thunder. It was mostly just a little lightning. No rain though. Earlier in the year there was some awesome lightning Randall. I have a set of pictures of lightning that were taken in Saskatoon.

  7. Your pictures are stunning!

Have you considered entering some of them in the Sask Centennial photo contest? Yours stand out as far as I'm concerned compared to what is there.

The cut off is Sept 30, but you can submit them via email:
