Hey Randall - you're singing my song! Often a poor sleeper, my days and nights come and go much like yours. Sometimes I lack sleep because I'm worried, sometimes I think I'm up because I need to pray, and sometimes it's just plain ol' insomnia. However, last weekend, our youngest son, who's 4, kept us up all night - and we're past the point of being up all night with kids. Dean moved to Ben's bed, Ben slept with me and we all had an extremely restless night. Turns out that somewhere in those wee a.m. hours, our car was being vandalized. Wonder why we were all so restless.....
By the way, I'm wife of "the Dean" - I read your blog daily but haven't commented before. I enjoy your writing.
Exercise and red wine - courtesy of the queen of sleepless nights. When the mind won't "shut off" one glass after a good bike ride or walk will do the trick. Hope you find rest.

ReplyDeleteWell, at least we are past the small kid stage! There were nights I really thought we would never see the end of it.
Usually I have no trouble falling asleep. Usually I fall into exhaustion. Usually...
I don't think I'm worrying, though I can do that easily enough...
I do spend some time praying and trying to listen for the things I need to be praying about...
Then, I get bored so I'll turn on talk radio which usually put's me right out. Lately it's just getting me miffed.
Weird, for me anyway. And I'm sure it will pass. But right now it's getting old.
And so am I...
Randall - I pray that tonight you may find rest in bed and peace in your mind.
