10 days on the road and I'm a gonna sleep in my own bed tonight.
Sorry to all of you who communicated a desire to meet with us, and all you who didn't even know we were in Winnipeg and are now feeling like we don't like you!!!
We do, we really do love ya.
Our priorities this time were a family vacation and to try to visit my Aunts and Uncles. They are getting older and, well they are great people, we wanted our kids to see them again. Since we only had a few days, we were not able to see you all.
And now I think I'll go see about that bed.
g'nite.
Hmmm. Obscure reference in this post -- Antsylvania, the old 80's kids Christian music tape ("we love ya, we really do love ya come on home!")? Which was one of my FAVORITES. I can still remember most of the lyrics to this day. That, and Music Machine.
ReplyDeleteBut that may be an American thing, I dunno. It's rare I run into people that remember those silly 80's records/tapes.
I lived on Music Machine most of my childhood! And I'm Dutch/Canadian. I've passed the torch on to my daughter...
ReplyDeleteI remember Antsylvania. Anybody remember the lyrics to the song about work? "Work, Work! Work, work, work! We know it ien't easy but at times it can be fun." If you know them, please post them--the tune is running through my head, and jit's reallly frustrating.
ReplyDeletework work work work work work

working hard will never hurt you

we begin our job in April and we never take a break till

and there never is a feeling just as good as the one that you feel when you're done

thanx Pat!!!
ReplyDeleteNice work
:)
I'm trying to find the words to "Don't judge a worm by its slime."
ReplyDeleteif you go on a vacation
ReplyDeletewithout making preparation
for the coming winter when you go...
when you get back from your going
and the winter winds are blowing
there'll be nothing left to eat but snow!

Oh my gosh, I have been singing that work song for 20 years driving myself crazy that I couldn't remember the second half of the first verse. Finally I decided to search for it and here it is. Thanks so much!!
ReplyDeletelook at all the different folks you know,
ReplyDeleteyou can't see the part that doesn't show,
We all have parts that appearances can hide
like the freckles on your noses or the warts upon your toes
will never show you what their like inside

ReplyDeleteMy husband is laughing at me but I had them all, Down by the Creekbank, Psalty, Bullfrogs and Butterflies. I just found the whole shabang at agapelandmusic.com. I'm ordering them for my son for christmas. Hated listening to them as a kid, but now I appreciate every single song and have to admit I love them all. For those of you who were forced to listen to Gingerbread Fair...hang in there for the laughing clown...worth the entire record just for that! God Bless!
ReplyDeleteI googled Antsylvania and this was the first site that came up. Thank you Marti for the website. I had been trying to find the CD with no luck. FYI...I was spelling it wrong...its Antshillvania.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteThere you go Kristen.
Glad to be of service.
I have been trying to locate a CD of Antsylvania for my grandkids. Is there such a thing? I have turned my house up side down to find our old cassette. Our kids loved it and want it for their kids.
ReplyDeleteYeh , we have an old " bullfrogs and Butterflies " cassette tape , by Candle and have been searching for that narration by Pat Boone , called Antsylvania ... also , remember Psalty ...??? Our oldest son's name is Anthony ... and we called him Ant tony ... with his tv Ant tenna ... being son calsitr Ant ... with D dragonfly ... and the little spider " what are going to do about dinner ?" ... OH , shut up Cicillia.
ReplyDeleteWe raised 5 boys and we did not have a radio in the old van , but we did have a cassette deck ... and we had fun ...lots of kids stuff ...
Now , we have 10 grand kids and no tapes ... actually , CDs would be better ... we don't even own a cassette deck now.
If anyone gets a handle on a place to buy this stuff , give me a jingle ... Bob Anderson no7j@yahoo.com thanks.
Oops , I recall that somebody on here said agapeland.com ... I will give that a try... thanks bob
Oh, this is a hoot! I should have googled ANTsylvania first. I just finished importing my 20+ year old videotape of ANTsylvania. where my little brother played the CommandANT. It was a junior high kids production of ANTsylvania that the church put on. Anyway, I just finished burning a DVD of said video, to give to him as a present. Now I find out I spelled ANTsylvania wrong. (Thanx Kristen) Hahaha Not only that, but I divided the play into where I thought the scenes were, and titled scenes and songs as I thought they might have been named. Good thing blank DVD's are cheap.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone finish this Antsylvania song for me?
ReplyDeleteToast of the town! That's what they'll call ya,
yer name in the headlines, a star on yer door!
Fortune and fame! Yeah, you can have it all,
why, you only hafta snap your fingers when you want more...
A certain sower sowed some seeds one certain sunny day!
ReplyDeleteHere's Antony's solo part of Toast of the Town:
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna be rich
I'm gonna be famous
I'm gonna be dashing
I'm gonna be free
I'm gonna be wise
I'm gonna be noble
I'm gonna be wonderful, beautiful, marvelous me!
All the world will gather at my feet.
Searching for my wisdom, hoping for my favor.
All the world will wait upon my word.
All the world will be in love with me.
Here's the duet part:
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna be rich (Yessiree, a regular Rockerfellar)
I'm gonna be famous (the queen will have you up for tea)
I'm gonna be dashing (all the girls will say you're simply smashing)
I'm gonna be free (as independAnt as you can be)
I'm gonna be noble & wise (you'll win the Nobel prize)
I'm gonna have power (sonny boy, you'll be Ant of the Hour!)
I'm/You're gonna be the toast of the town
Oh yea!
I'm/You're gonna be the toast of the town!
Dorian (or anyone), any chance you could finish off the: "A certain sower sowed some seeds one certain sunny day!"? We used Antshillvania for teaching the kids at family camp one summer, then when we had kids, they love Antshillvania too. That was many years ago. Today, while I was reading the parable of the sower and the seed, that little poem popped into my mind from very long ago, but I could only recall the first part. (Thanks for the entire line, btw...I couldn't even manage that!)
ReplyDeleteGreat blog Randall, thanks!
Sower song (verse 1 - Cecilia)
ReplyDeleteA certain sower sowed some seed one sunny summer day
A snoopy sparrow spied the spoils and shouted, "Seeds! Hooray!"
The sower stopped and shouted "Shoo!" then sighed in sad dismay
As a swarm of sassy sparrows swooped and swiped the seed away.
Verse 2 - Seymour
A certain sower sowed some seed on shallow stony soil.
Some spunky sprigs came sprouting up but started soon to broil.
The sultry searing summer sun swung sweltering overhead
'til the sizzling seedlings sadly sagged and sighed, "So long, we're dead!"
Verse 3 - Sam
A certain sower sowed some seed. Some settled in the ground
Surrounded by a sticker patch with stickers all around.
The stickey stickers stuck and stabbed and scratched and scraped and tore
'Til they swallowed all the seedlings up, and soon there were no more.
Verse 4 - Sam & Cecilia
A certain sower sowed some seed in super soil he found.
And soon some super shoots sprang up and super roots sprang down.
As seasons sent the sun and showers, at last there stood full grown
A shady, shiny orchard where the sower's seeds were sown!
Thanks for posting the lyrics to The Riddle from Antshillvania(just helping the search engines out). I couldn't find it anywhere else on the internet.
DeleteDoes anyone know the tune name for the sower song??? I can't find it anywhere. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteim trying to find the words for the riddle, antshillvania
ReplyDeleteThanks for the agapelandmusic.com link! I was hoping such a thing would exist, but I would never have thought to look for the word "agapeland". Obviously I'm not quite sappy enough...
ReplyDeleteThis has been a blast from the past, it must be said. Oh, and I'm an Aussie kid, and I grew up with Psalty, Ants'hillvania, the Birthday Albumn and all that jazz.
This was one of my favorite records when I was a kid and I definitely want my son to be able to experience it too!
ReplyDeleteWow, this six year old blog post still comes up high on Google when you search "Antsylvania". I don't know why I was thinking about it, we must've performed it in the late '80s at my grade school. So did you actually mean to evoke the music, or did the first comment actually misinterpret your wording? Regardless, it's awesome to see all these posts spread out over the years. "Antsyl- Antsyl- Antsylvania, that's our song [rah rah rah]"
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for the wholesome, fun tunes that are in the Antshillvania music.
ReplyDeleteMy children learned Godly morals and character lessons from listening to it.
Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, Except you are converted and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

ReplyDeleteI am 74 years old and have raised my kids on these precious tunes and lyrics. I am now purchasing them again for my grand and great grand kids. My kids still love them and we will listen again first. I am so glad for this site to reclaim some of the words and to see that lots of us want to hold on to that very special time of our lives where the world was simpler and we all sang together.

You won't find an ant that has not
Worked for everything that he's got
We have found we have to work to live
Ants get lots of satisfaction
Out of going into action
If you want to get you've got to give
We don't pretend it's easy
But at times work can be fun
And you'll never feel a feeling

Im 18 now, and when i was little i played Celia the Spider in my school play and have always remembered part of her sower song line...both the words and the tune...glad i found this!
ReplyDeleteI have been going through some tough times. This morning all of a sudden the Seeds song was in my head. I played Seymour when I was a teen and I had the time of my life. I loved it. The song gave me peace this morning. I had to hunt down the lyrics because I couldn't remember them all. SO glad someone posted them. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think this whole comment thread is pretty amusing. It's all based off a slight reference that may or may not have been referring to Antshillvania. Great to see so many fans in one place. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree. I can't believe the blog still gets comments on that post. But as a community service :) and because I know how crazy it makes me when I can't find a certain reading online, I leave it here with room for comments.
DeleteGlad you found it.
