Breath of Heaven

I have traveled many moonless nights
Cold and weary, with a babe inside
And I wonder what I've done
Holy Father, you have come
And chosen me now
To carry your son

I am waiting in a silent prayer
I am frightened by the load I bear
In a world as cold as stone,
Must I walk this path alone?
Be with me now
Be with me now

Breath of heaven
Hold me together
Be forever near me
Breath of heaven

Breath of heaven
Light up my darkness
Pour over me your holiness
For you are holy

Breath of heaven

Do you wonder as you watch my face
If a wiser one one should have had my place
But I offer all I am
For the mercy of your plan
Help me be strong
Help me be
Help me

Breath of heaven

  1. Every December 23, I sometimes relate to Mary.....the fear of bearing a child as she must have, but did it nontheless....I too brought forth my first and only son that day, I too rejoiced at his birth, I too wondered what lay ahead for him, and if I was up to the the task....moms wonder those things...... and I thank God for his wonderful gift....Matthew (gift of God).......

  2. For some reason this song - both the words and the melody - affects me deeply. Maybe it is the sense of fear and uncertainty that comes through and the need to be sustained by God. And then the question "Do you wonder as you watch my face, If a wiser one should have had my place" What mother doesn't ask this over and over - we make so many mistakes. And our children are mere mortals!
