Cruise Weekend

(WARNING: Sorry to those with dial-up's... pictures ahead)

One of the reasons we went to Saskatoon on the weekend was to see all the hot cars, and hot they were! Over 4000 of them I believe.

Here's Thomas and Micah looking cool and relaxed.

Here's the collection of the Saskatchewan British Car Club (That's what I said!)

Here's one I took for Lauralea, she's a Karmen Ghia lover from way back. (She used to own one! and not this pretty!)

And no show is complete without the faithful VW's.

Now I gotta go practice un-coveting.

  1. My sympathies on the covet front. Maybe it's because they're common here, but the MGs and beetles don't do it for me so much, although Ben would love that pink Dodge(?) for cruising around Oxford.

The mechanic we used to go to in Oxford also bought, sold and restored classic Volvos (he was a Volvo Amazon specialist). While our car was being fixed he'd lend me one from his stock to drive to work and back. One day he didn't have an Amazon handy, so he lent me a very clean E1800 overdrive (sports coupe - like the 'saint' used to drive). Very, very dangerous - I barely escaped in my old Citroen estate without signing anything ;-)

Repeat after me "Contentment with Godliness is great gain".

  2. Wonder how long it will take(if ever) before the mini-van becomes a classic. I like the Karmen Ghia too but not much room in there for a load of groceries! or kids! or moving kids furniture! Sigh.

  3. Well, I'm a 'classic car' fan as much as the next guy (MGs top my list), but I believe as time goes on, the words of my dear 'ole pappy come back to haunt me regarding vehicles(and perhaps make me realize that the day has come for even me to be considered in the classic category), he said many-a-time, "As long as it gets you from point A to point B, that's all that matters!!!". Dull I know, but quite true..... We were discussing feeding the poor yesterday, right? How quickly I'm distracted.......

  4. The Evangelical Covenant Board of ministry (I believe) has found that a surprising number of pastors get out of the ministry between ages 45-55 when they discover that this may be all there is to their lives.

My suggestion to them was to buy every pastor a small red sports car when they turned 45. Help them get it out of their system!!

  5. And shall we take that out of the missions fund or the benevolent funds???

  6. I would have thought that donations by those with small classic collections would be the most efficient method, Linea?
